Canvas 9: Do something intimidating WonderStrange Arts

Well, this started off as a completely different direction. When I first read the blog on this challenge, I immediately thought of the distress crackle paint that I’ve had forever, and just sitting patiently in my paint drawer. Thought about doing something Fallout with it…Aime walking up a decimated street of Ashton or something, but then I looked over at the two canvases I prepped last week.

This might be “Cheating” but, as I looked at one, it’s a 16 x 20. I painted this canvas gold over 2 years ago to be used in a steampunk piece that never saw the light of day and had faded from memory. I then prepped it last week to have smut novel pages over it and a sketched picture of my leading female (Sam) and male (Sven) from my main novel project, “The Pinstripe Lounge”. As I watched the video and pondered why I never completed the steampunk canvas, I realized that it was the size and fear of messing up that perfect picture in my head that intimidated me.

I haven’t done a 16x20 canvas since I did a really simple painting that I sold (First work I EVER did), and the money was donated to relief for the catastrophe in Haiti a few years back. It’s been a while.

The picture in my head is one of those things that I’ve found quite challenging, and haven’t done anything with it traditionally as I can fix stuff easily digitally. (Where most of my digital work comes in, and rarely does it turn out the same as in my mind’s eye)

So, here’s 2 different things that intimidates me. Size and Messing up that “Perfect Picture”. As a bonus, I’ll even throw in there painting my favorite OC’s. Lorien and Ontian from the diptych were ones that I created, but haven’t done much with so I wasn’t disappointed in how it turned out. Sam and Sven however I’ve loved since they were created…back in 2007.

Well, I don’t think I have to tell you that this is NOT how it looks in my mind, and further from than it should’ve been. Not gonna lie, it discouraged me a bit…BUT there’s something about it that I’m enjoying…Couldn’t tell you what though.
